We're delighted to announce that Reinas, directed by Swiss-Peruvian filmmaker Klaudia Reynicke, won the Swiss Film Award in the main category of “Best Feature Film” in Geneva on Friday !
Part dream world, part reality, ‘Reinas’ is a family chronicle set in Lima in the 1990s. A mother wants to move to the United States with her two daughters, leaving behind their father, who has little to offer them. This decision is prompted by the economic crisis, political unrest and lack of prospects in Peru in the 1990s.
Selected to represent Switzerland at the Oscars, ‘Reinas’ is also the first Swiss feature film to be selected in international competition at the Sundance Independent Film Festival. It has already won the Kplus Generation Prize at the Berlinale and the Audience Award at Locarno.
