After years of exile, Remo, an orphan, returns to his childhood village in the Balkans. He must help his adoptive cousin Una with the exhumation of a mass grave that contains most of their family members buried there during the war. But the bodies reveal family secrets that will make Remo and Una question their past and their future. A film about the possibility of truth in a place that only knows survival.

Fisnik Maxville
Born in 1989 in Kosovo. Fisnik Maxville was a refugee in Switzerland until 2005. He studied Film at ECAL / HEAD, completing his studies with a Master’s degree. His first film Lost Exile (2016) premiered in Locarno and won a jury award. He wrote and directed The Valley of Happiness (2017), Zvicra (2018) and Endgame (2020). The Land Within is his debut film. He is currently working on several feature films, among them Cotton Hands and Anima.
