Allo la France
A feature documentary by Floriane Devigne
In provincial France, the "periphery" of the country, where public services have disappeared or been ruthlessly stripped back according to purely utilitarian criteria, I make the disappearance of telephone booths a symbol. This road movie looking for the ruins of the 20th century is built on telephone conversations, archives and chance encounters. It is also a journey back in time. I am looking for traces of abandoned collective projects, shifted political horizons, broken promises of emancipation. From the end of the telephone booth to the advent of the "medical booth", I meditate on what it really is, this thing we call "progress".
